Being a Mommy myself, of course i want only the best for my baby!!!hehehe…looking at all the milk selling in the market…everybody is trying to prove whos’ milk is better than whos’…some said theirs have DHA and ARA…some even said they have CHOLINE as an added nutrition…some also said they have it for immune function and development….hmmmmm……

still trying hard to regain full breastfeeding to my baby…i came across this article…and hope that anyone who is reading this article…let it be a parent or not…may consider these FACTS from now on or in the future….BREAST MILK….it is a GIFT from ALLAH almighty….

DISCOVERY #1 - DHA and ARA

DHA(docosahexaenoic acid) and ARA (arachidonic acid) are 2 types of fat that play important roles in brain development. They are both found in BREASTMILK and are highly concentrated in the brain and eyes. DHA and ARA are large molecules that come from a family of fatty acids known as the ‘long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids’ (LCPUFAs). LCPUFAs are recognised by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO)/World Health Organization (WHO) as essential nutrients for young and older children.

DISCOVERY #2 - CHOLINE

Choline is a vitamin lioke substance found in many foods, including BREAT MILK. Choline supports overall mental functioning, where it is vital during the period of rapid brain growth and development. Like DHA, choline accumulates in the brain during this period. Choline is recognised by the US Institue of Medicine (IOM) as an essential nutrient with recommended daily intakes for all age groups. An ‘essential nutrient’ is a substance that must be obtained from the diet because the body cannot make sufficient quantities to meet its needs.

DISCOVERY #3 - IMMUNE FUNCTION AND DEVELOPMENT

Omega-3 and Omega-6 vLCPUFAs are components important for maintaining the structure and function of immune cells. Omega-3 (alpha-linolenic acid) and Omega-6 (linoleic acid) fatty acids are precursors of DHA and ARA respectively. ARA is the precursor of a group of compounds that promote inflammation, such as prostaglandins and leukotrienes. DHA, on the other hand, decreases the production of inflammation-promoting cytokines, hence is anti-inflammatory. Therefore the balance of LCPUFAs is important for immune system modulation. It is known that DHA and ARA can be converted into specific molecules that are essential for childhood immunity. For example, DHA and ARA can be broken down into compounds known as eicosanoids, which regulate several important processes in the immune system in young children. Eicosanoids are therefore crucial to the immune response in young children."

I Thank Allah for giving me this opportunity to breast feed My Iris…..i just hope that i will be able to continue nursing her until she reaches the age of 2!!!I pray to Allah so that my good intentions be fulfilled!

With that i prayed that Iris will grow up into a bright and good person!

This week comes the 3rd week that my family and i starts living on our own!Just the three of us…My Hubby, My Iris and I moved to Tanjung Malim and living it up here….hehehe…its fun though there are a lot of things that i have to adjust and MISS!!!!huhuh…but at least ….i can say that now we are learning to stand on our own!

3 weeks…and i felt exhausted..well i can no longer take things ez…as i am still new in this….still dont know how to do things the easier way….i have to use the longwinded road to do just what i want to do….for example…it took me 3 solid hours just to prepare a simple dinner for 2!!!

Baby Iris…i hope she will adjust soon…..she faces the worst impact….she has to stay with strangers daytime while my hubby and i goes to work….and when we pick her up….my hubby will bring her to the playground while me….in the kitchen trying to fix us dinner….

and after having a blast in the playground with her daddy…..she’ll come back…i will clean her up and continue TRYING TO FIX US 2 PEOPLE dinner….while Iris being entertained by her daddy……

at about 9 only our dinner will be served…(only GOD knows why i spent 3 hours in the kitchen trying to fix dinner just for 2 people!!)then after dinner i will try to clean up while Iris played with her daddy….at about 10…its her sleeping time already and i’ll be EXHAUSTED by then…..so i’ll bring her upstairs and lie down with her to sleep!!!

I will need to adjust and i mean SOON!!!!i need to get advice from everyone how to handle things faster!!!so that i can fix a nice dinner for us family, clean up the house, do laundry, housework….and still have time for my baby!!!!

sometimes i wish i can still live with my mommy….where my time with my baby isn’t taken away from me!!

It is fun being a mother….though it is a 24 hour job and u can never resign from it….kehkehkeh….but being a mother myself, i wonder who wants to resign from this wonderful job?from my observation, i see more people applying for this job….hehehehe…..

seeing baby Iris grow,every single day brings new things into our lives!!!her development is well on track i shall say….thoug there will be a bit delay here and there..there are also some advance technique that she adopts….

My Iris now can walk…she is learning to jump now….still not getting there tho….hehehe…..but her vocabulary is expanding….she used to say ababababa…..and also amamama….when she was about 7 or 8 months old…..then it goes to ak…ak….and that i tell you…Iris’ ‘ak’ can mean aki, wan, nak,tak nak, …anything!!hahahah..that was really cute and fun…!!But now, Iris’ vocab expanded…she can say ‘baba’ when she is waving bubbye!how cute that sounds!!

Iris can even nod and say ‘ak’ when she means yes or nak….shake her head and say ‘ak’ when she means dont want…sometimes she says ‘abah’….calling her daddy!but recently….she mumbles something that sounds like this ‘tak…deh’…ahaks..as i heard it its takde sometimes it sounds like pakde her uncle!i go like omigosh…ur starting to talk baby!!!!

tho there is no ‘mommy’ yet…im still proud of baby Iris!!i know u are saving the best kan baby…hahaha….to comfort myself eh….

Baby Iris..keep on talking baby….lets sing lets chat and do whatever you like kay baby….mommy loves u always and forever!!hahaha….it is fun being a mother!!!!

Well…next week my baby Iris will turn 1 year and 1 month!!yey!!and counting her age also counts how long i’ve been breastfeeding my baby Iris!!its coming to a year and 1 month….wow!!I am glad to know that Iris is getting her best when it comes to milk…ALhamdulillah…am praying everyday biarlah Allah murahkan lagi dan lagi rezeki Iris!!Though now supply is a bit low…as if knowing that fact Iris consume less milk at daytime and just wont stop n ursing at nite!!here is to 11 more months till Iris graduates breastfeeding!!!!

Well,yesterday the 8th of july 2007, i organize a birthday bash for my angelic Iris!!It was FUN but yup very tiring…..

Alhamdulillah everything went well….The Menu…well we chose an Italian cuisine with a dash of local surprise!!ahaks…the menu was Spaghetti Bolognese, Fettucine Carbonara (Thanx to Chef Zul who came and cooked it for us), Pizza, Santan Durian, curry puff, talam, roasted chicken,chicken nuggets….ahaks….everyone loved the carbonara….ZUL THANX TO U!!

The cake…i got to say something about the cake…there was 2….all thanx to maklong hanim!!!fairy winkle cake was awwing!!jaw dropped when they saw the cake……CHANTEKKKKKKKKKK!!!and not to forget the cute mini cuppackaes that spells out HAPPY BIRTHDAY IRIS SWEETHEART!!

Though restless im glad to see that baby Iris is HAPPY…..not to mention Pwincess ALISA!!the happiest girl of the day!!dancing, singing!!

I would like to thank my mother….for organizing the event…my dad…my sister kaklong….abang man…kak yana….abang de…My HUBBY i love u dear…..thank you so much…

I would also like to thank everyone who came….you have made Iris’ first birthday a memorable one!!!!!!!we thank you again and again….
